The Pro Football Hall of Fame was opened on September 7, 1963, for the purpose of honoring the legends and preserving the history of professional football. It is located in Canton, Ohio, where the American Porofessional Football Association, later renamed the National Football League, was founded in 1920. In addition, the Canton Bulldogs, with football legend Jim Thorpe as its star, were the first two time champions of the NFL in 1922 and 1923. The approximately 83,000 square foot complex is open every day of the year except Christmas.
