On our way to North Carolina, we made a detour through the Shenandoah National Park along the Skyline Drive. We entered the park at the northernmost point, Front Royal, Virginia, and traveled south for sixty-five miles exiting at Swift Run Gap. The highest point of our drive was 3680 feet while most of the time, we were between about 3300 and 3500 feet. The views were magnificent...and along the way, we encountered some interesting people and a very tame deer. It was a trip well worth making!!!
